Surfers of Japan is a passion project. after surfing here for nearly 20 years and having to take a break from working on documentaries due to Covid.
I decided to grab my cameras and my surfboards and hit the road in my van to capture what surfing in Japan is really all about.
I am not a vlogger, have always much preferred the Taylor Steele style of surf film.

These videos are my attempt to capture some of the unique surfing magic that you can find in Japan.

Surf Miyazaki
At the end of a few days of decent swell, a nice afternoon chill surf session ensued as the sun sets behind the hills of one of Japan's best surf towns.

Surf Shizuoka
A mellow morning summer surf session at a local beach break in Shizuoka Japan. Shizuoka is mostly known as the home of Mt Fuji, but there are so many things to see and do in this amazing prefecture. When it comes to surf though, that's where things get interesting. There is a bit of everything here, from long beach breaks with punchy peaks, to jagged coastlines and reef breaks, Shizuoka prefecture is sure to offer up a wave to suit most surfers.

Pro surfers Miyazaki Japan 
Finally a little typhoon swell marched into the lineup in Miyazaki after an unusual period of small waves. At a sick left reef a handful of local rippers and some of Japans best pro surfers were on hand to get barelled and tear up some fun waves. A perfect warm up session for the rest of the typhoon season! This is Surfing in Japan, Miyazaki style!
